He has organized, moderated, and spoken at a number of events, including two Multicultural Panels, which were widely popular among capacity crowds of substance abuse and other health service providers (Santa Clara County Department of Alcohol and Drug Services Learning Institute, March 2009; and the annual conference of the California Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors, Sacramento, October 2009).
In recent years he has also organized, moderated, and spoken at several workshops on “Gender Transgressive Individuals of the Asian Diaspora,” at the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Creating Change conference (Oakland, November 2005), Mills College (April 2009), and at the Butch Voices conference (Oakland, August 2009).
“Willy has a wealth of knowledge on multicultural issues that shines when he facilitates discussions. He is very dynamic and skilled at involving the panelists and engaging training participants.”
-- Soo Jung, MS, Director, Santa Clara County Department of Alcohol and Drug Services Learning Institute, San Jose
“Wilkinson’s attentiveness to the complexities of gender identity as mediated by issues of class, race, nationality, (dis)ability, and history provided an engaging platform for our audience to discuss the role of mental health professionals and transgender clients within the larger societal constructs of sex/gender.”
