Willy Wilkinson, MPH - Writer and Public Health Consultant
Research and Evaluation

Willy has worked on a number of public health research projects that have broadened understanding about the needs of marginalized populations, made critical health and social service recommendations, and ultimately contributed to positive health outcomes. Willy strongly values community-centered research approaches, with a particular emphasis on the potentially empowering and community-building impact of participatory action research.

In addition, Willy has conducted evaluations on community programs that serve marginalized populations. These evaluation processes provide insightful data that contribute to concrete organizational policy and programmatic improvements.

Willy Wilkinson has an adept knowledge of those at the highest risk for HIV: African American men who have sex with men, young men who have sex with men, and women. Willy's research skills led to the creation of the most comprehensive research material on African Americans and HIV on California’s premier prevention web site http://www.oneloveca.org. The data Willy compiled for California's African Americans in five regions has led to more sustainable approaches and cohesive strategies by statewide coalitions addressing HIV and other health disparities, and solidified the need for and the importance of community-based research for underrepresented communities.”
